The famous map showing you taste salty, savoury, sweet via different regions of your tongue is wrong. In fact, your tongue is covered in taste receptors and each one tastes all types of flavours.
Stress can affect your taste of sweet foods:
Tastebuds have stress-hormone receptors that are more sensitive to sweet flavours. Stress may increase the number of these receptors, animal research shows. This may explain why we crave more sweet food when we’re under pressure.
Weight gain may dull taste sensation:
As a result, meals may be less satisfying, leading people to eat more.
