No matter how fit you are before, pregnancy can leave you with saggy, stretched-out belly skin-something even fitness influencer Emily Skye can attest to. In a revealing new Instagram post, the new mom provides an explanation as to why her super-fit stomach appears so toned in some photos and videos, and a little bit looser in others - and it all has to do with lighting, camera angles, and posing.

Saggy, wrinkly belly skin - sometimes you can see it and other times you can’t. . A lot of ladies have been asking where it’s gone in some of my pics & videos & some have accused my of photoshopping it out. - I just wanted to show that how I stand, whether I’m flexing & what light I’m in either highlights my excess belly skin or hides it! - And I don’t mind either way which is why I post both. ☺️ . Is it weird that I’m actually proud of it? I’m proud of what it represents I guess. I grew a human in this belly & the whole process into motherhood has made me SO much stronger and also so much more confident in myself and my body. I couldn’t care less whether the stretched skin stays or goes! It’s such an insignificant thing in my eyes. . Ladies please stop being so hard on yourselves, nobody is perfect and having some extra skin, stretch marks, cellulite or whatever else doesn’t make you any less beautiful or amazing! I posted a video about this in my story today but thought I’d make a post about it too because I think it’s so important to talk about. Sending love to you all. . . #emilyskye #fitfam #1yearpostpartum #mumbod #mombod

“Saggy, wrinkly belly skin - sometimes you can see it and other times you can’t,” she writes in her brutally honest post. The influencer, who has amassed 2.4 million Instagram followers, explains that many people have been asking where her previously evident saggy skin had gone, and some accused her of photoshopping it out. “I just wanted to show that how I stand, whether I’m flexing & what light I’m in either highlights my excess belly skin or hides it! - And I don’t mind either way which is why I post both,” she continues.

She continues to reveal that instead of being embarrassed about her body, she embraces it. “Is it weird that I’m actually proud of it? I’m proud of what it represents I guess. I grew a human in this belly & the whole process into motherhood has made me SO much stronger and also so much more confident in myself and my body. I couldn’t care less whether the stretched skin stays or goes! It’s such an insignificant thing in my eyes,” she says.

Skye encourages other women to stop being so hard on themselves. She concludes, “nobody is perfect and having some extra skin, stretch marks, cellulite or whatever else doesn’t make you any less beautiful or amazing!”

1 month postpartum & 11 months postpartum. . I said I was going to do it and I did! It’s such a wonderful feeling! ☺️ . IT TAKES TIME LADIES!! When I became pregnant I made the decision to be as honest as possible with you and share everything (well almost everything haha ). I’ve shown myself at some of my worst and most vulnerable times (mentally and physically) and here I am at my best. There were moments when I thought I’d never get there and never feel amazing again but I committed myself. I worked hard and consistently to get here without dieting or training more than an average of 4-5 hours a week (I mainly followed my FIT app). I’m a much better and happier person and mother when I’m active and healthy. I’m SO grateful for my health. If there’s something you want, even if it feels impossible to achieve at the time - BELIEVE YOU CAN GET IT! It takes time so don’t be hard on yourself, it’s not a competition between you and anyone else, and it’s not about comparison. It’s about dedicating yourself to becoming the best you can be and just doing the best you possibly can within your means. - I believe if dont like something and have the ability to change it then do it! . I really hope that by sharing my unfiltered postpartum journey I’ve been able to inspire you to work hard to be the best you can be. You truly deserve it, I hope you know that. Thank you for being such an incredible support network for me. I appreciate you all so much. . P.S. Yes I train in my bikini in my garage gym! . . #11monthspostpartum #emilyskye #fitfam #fitmum #fitmom

Skye has been diligently documenting her "unfiltered postpartum journey" up on the social media site, making sure to flaunt stretch marks and all. “It’s to humanise me - because people look at social media influencers and think ‘she’s perfect’ so it shows other women I have stretchmarks on my bum and loose skin on my tummy too,” she recently explained to news.com.au about why she opts to show off her "flaws."

We commend Skye for doing so, as it definitely makes her more relatable and helps other women accept and celebrate their own bodies - stretch marks, loose skin, cellulite and all!
