Lisa Curry has shared a emotional message about the challenges she faced in 2020 and thanked everyone who supported her following the death of her eldest daughter, Jaimi, in September.
Jaimi (pictured above with her mum) was just 33 when she passed away after battling alcoholism and an eating disorder.
The former Olympian and grieving mum wrote on Instagram: “This year has given us more pain that we can bear. More tears have flowed than all years before this. The tears will be used to water the seeds of hope for all people who struggle every single day.
“Somehow, at sometime, this mess will turn into a message. Lessons will be learnt from loss.... and I will try and help you.
“There are huge gaping holes in the medical system for people like our beautiful Jaimi. Even though she was well cared for, more needs to be done. There are many of us that are broken in some way... but remember, that’s where the light comes in.
“Where there is light, there is hope. When there is life, there is still hope.
“To all the people that have lost a child and sent me and still send me countless messages of love and support, I want to thank you.
“People I don’t know and people I do : Heather and Sue from Melbourne who sent me a Bunnings voucher to use for Jaimi’s garden, so thoughtful, and Sandra who did the same. To the many who have written me beautiful letters, to people who have said prayers for Jaimi, to my good friend former Prime Minister John Howard who sent me a heartfelt letter, messages from our sporting icons, Dawn Fraser, Raylene Boyle, and Tracey Wickham who also lost her own sweet daughter, cricket legend Brian Lara... and every man, woman and child - strangers who have sent me letters or hugged me in the butcher, the grocery store, on the streets - famous or not - just people who care.
“And all the messages here on social media... I realise we are not alone and I take comfort in that and I return the love and strength that we all need.
“To our dear friends who have supported our family for years ... Just thank you.
“Imagine if that amount of love, support, kindness and caring was given to everyone all the time ... even for no reason - what a nicer world we would live in.
“Jaimi said to me one day, “ mum, when I get through this, I want to help others”.
“I will do that for you my love ... when I know how.”

Over Christmas, Curry shared a photograph of her family marking the day ex husband Grant, their children Morgan and Jett, plus Morgan’s husband Ryan Gruell and their two kids. The family wore T-shirts with Jaimi’s face on them.
Curry ended the year with a photograph of herself with husband Mark Tabone and wished her 99,000 followers a happy new year.
