FAQs

1. What is the Prevention Virtual Walk?

The Prevention Virtual Walk is a walk that you can do from anywhere around Australia. Join us over 4 weeks of training as we prepare to complete a 10km walk on October 23rd, 2022. We may not be walking side by side but we'll all be joining in the fun from wherever we are!

2. Do I need to be fit to take part in the Virtual Walk?

Nope! In fact, we encourage you to do the walk if you're getting back into exercise. We've designed a training plan for all fitness levels and fitness goals so that you can increase or decrease intensity as you like. Always consult your doctor before taking on a new exercise regime.

3. What if I sign-up halfway through?

Once you sign up you'll have access to all previous weeks of the training plan. Simply start at week one and take note of our recommendations to amp up the intensity if you feel ready for it.

4. What date is the virtual walk?

October 23rd 2022 is the official day of the Prevention Virtual Walk, but don’t worry if you can’t walk that day – the program is designed to work around your schedule, so you don’t have to make that YOUR walk day.

5. What date are the training plans available?

You will receive your first week’s training plan via email on Friday Sept 23rd for week one, and subsequent training plans will arrive in your inbox every Friday before the commencement of each week to remind you to stay on track.

6. When will I receive my cap and water bottle weight?

If you have registered for the Virtual Walk before September 12th you will receive your items before walk day on Sunday 23rd October. Signing up after this date may mean your items will arrive after the official walk day.

7. How does the text message coaching work?

If you’ve opted to receive coaching messages by SMS, you will receive a motivational message or challenge from our fitness expert Kathleen Alleaume 2-3 times a week to help you stay on track. Whilst the messages are no-reply, you find group support within the dedicated Prevention Virtual Walk Facebook group.

8. I need help signing up, how can I contact you for help?

You can email us at walk@prevention.com.au for assistance in signing up to the program.
