After having three children, actress Kate Hudson has realised how important it is to make time for exercise. It keeps her feeling her best and “balances out” the strains her muscles have taken over the years.
In a recent Instagram, the 42-year-old shared a few snippets of her recent fitness routine—and she’s putting in the work.
“She’s starting to wake up! Carried three babies who did a number on these hips and shoulders,” Hudson wrote in her caption. “Ladies! We carry our beautiful children ALL DAY LONG (literally AND figuratively) and forget to balance it out. Time to balance that SH#! OUT!”

In the post, Hudson held a super-solid plank with her feet held in suspension loops and her forearms resting on a soft elevated pad. With the guidance of her trainer Brian Nguyen, she lifted her booty to hold herself into a pike position. “Yeah, Kate! Own this. So slow to the diamond,” Nguyen cheered her on in the video’s background.
With a quivering core and her head shaking, refusing to give up, Hudson slowly lowered herself back down to plank. She dropped to her knees, and asked, “How was that?” Nguyen turned the camera onto his own proud face, indicating she had totally crushed the routine.
In the second video, Hudson holds a bear plank on her hands and toes, then shifts to lean on one arm and kick the same-side leg under her body. She alternates between fast and slow kicks, working her core and upper body, all while boosting her flexibility and mobility. “Great job, ninja! Way to keep it under the girls. Way to tear that floor,” Nguyen encourages from behind the camera.

Hudson isn’t exactly new to the fitness scene. After recently having daughter Rani Rose in 2018 with boyfriend Danny Fujikawa, and sons 17-year-old Ryder and 9-year-old Bingham, she’s jumped back into her love for movement.
“Those who recover together... maybe you can finish the sentence. I grew up witnessing my parents take care of their bodies. People always ask me how I get motivated to stay in shape. The answer is, it’s what I know. It’s how I was raised. It’s engrained in my brain that honouring and working our body is a gift, and so I don’t take it for granted,” she captioned another workout Instagram post. “I loooove moving. I love when it’s challenging. I love being in charge of my results. And I looooove seeing my daughter have fun doing it with me. They watch everything we do! Gotta make some good moves for kids.”
