Madonna has shared a photograph of a scar from her recent surgery on Instagram, describing it as “beautiful”.
The 62-year-old singer has long suffered from hip and knee issues and recently went under the knife after enduring intense pain while on her Madame X World Tour.
In the post to her Instagram story, Madonna has pink hair and is wearing a black sports bra and underwear. She added three hashtags to the photo: "recovery," "cupping," and "beautiful scar."

In December last year Madonna cancelled her Madame X tour because of injury.
"As I climbed the ladder to sing 'Batuka' on Saturday night in Miami I was in tears from the pain of my injuries, which has been indescribable for the past few days," she said. "With every song I sang, I said a prayer that I would make it to the next and get thru the show. My prayers were answered, and I made it.
"I spent the last two days with doctors - scans, ultrasounds, X-rays, poking and probing and more tears," she added. "They have made it very clear to me that if l am to continue my tour — I must rest for as long as possible so that I don’t inflict further and Irreversible damage to my body.
"I have never let an injury stop me from performing but this time I have to accept that there is no shame in being human and having to press the pause button. I thank you all for your understanding, love and support."

The singer has also been sharing moments from her Christmas celebrations with her children. In one video, she and her four youngest children - David Banda, 15, Mercy James, 14, and eight-year-old twins Estere and Stelle – appeared beside their surprisingly down-to-earth Christmas tree.
She captioned the video: "We decided this year to make our own decorations. This is me being roasted by my kids!! I was going for a needy starfish… I have not mastered the glue gun."
She also shared a video on her Instagram story standing at the dining table making gingerbread houses with her twins.
Madonna has relaxed her parenting rules the second time around. Her first-born Lourdes, now 24, was banned from eating junk food as a child.
