Dietitian, psychologist and author (and previous guest on our podcast Thriving In Menopause) Susie Burrell shares what she’s learnt about life.
1. MY NON-NEGOTIABLE MORNING RITUAL IS… coffee, coffee, coffee! It’s the highlight of my day, which is either sad or fantastic. Extra hot skim latte with a half [teaspoon of sugar].
2. WHEN I’M INVITED TO DINNER, THE HOST USUALLY… is another dietitian, so [I know that what’s served] is not an issue, or one of my close friends, in which case, they’re much more interested in what champagne I’m bringing!
3. WHAT’S INSPIRING ME RIGHT NOW IS… seeing so many working women and mothers who literally have to ‘do it all’ yet do it with grace every day.
4. I’M HAPPIEST WHEN… I’m with my seven-year-old twins, Gus and Harry, who are the light of my life.
5. THE LIFE LESSON I’D SHARE WITH MY 21-YEAR-OLD SELF IS… when people show you who they really are, don’t waste precious time – move on.
6. WHAT I LOVE MOST ABOUT GETTING OLDER IS… that people who once bothered me become less and less significant.
7. FOR ME, ‘HEALTHY’ MEANS… having a diet with a strong foundation of fresh food, regular exercise and life balance.
8. I BELIEVE IT’S ALWAYS GOOD MANNERS TO… bring a gift with you when you visit someone.
9. I LIKE TO SURROUND MYSELF WITH PEOPLE WHO… have similar energy levels to me.
10. I DON’T LEAVE THE HOUSE WITHOUT MY… volume powder, because my hair is very fine!
