Gracing the cover of British Vogue, Naomi Campbell, 51, can be seen protectively holding her baby girl to her chest while looking strikingly beautiful. She has previously kept any news regarding a pregnancy and the birth of her child private, but surprised her fans with a birth announcement, since deleted, on her Instagram in May last year, writing “A beautiful little blessing has chosen me to be her mother so honoured to have this gentle soul in my life there are no words to describe the lifelong bond that I now share with you, my angel. There is no greater love."

Few people were aware of her plans to become a mother, telling Vogue that, “I can count on my one hand the amount of people that knew I was having her. But she is the biggest blessing I could ever imagine. It’s the best thing I’ve ever done”.
The announcement took the world by surprise and sent the rumour mill swirling around questions of paternity and whether Campbell conceived naturally. When asked, she simply said: She wasn’t adopted – she’s my child”.

But Campbell is not alone in her journey to motherhood later in life, and there are many female celebrities that have gone on to have babies after the age of 45. In fact, many of these stars have openly discussed their journeys, be it a surprise pregnancy, IVF or other fertility treatments, to help them conceive:
With the help of IVF, Danish actress Brigitte Nielsen gave birth to her fifth child at the age of 54 in 2018.
